Natural & Cultural Resources

Spirit works closely with clients and federal and state agencies to successfully navigate the NEPA process.

The NEPA process applies to federal government actions that may cause environmental impact. NEPA requirements may apply to private entities when applying for a permit to cross federal lands, impacting waters of the US, or other NEPA triggers (e.g., funding, approvals). Navigation of the NEPA process is complicated and requires careful planning, coordination, and sound scientific analyses and procedures. Resources evaluated under NEPA are specific to each federal agency and may include a variety of natural resources (air, water, and biological resources including threatened and endangered species, geology, soils) and human resources (hazardous materials, environmental justice, social justice, visual resources, cultural resources, and noise, recreation and tourism).
